Styling an Autumnal wedding at West Tower

While we’re all in love with summer weddings, at West Tower there’s also something rather special about the autumn season. As the leaves start to turn, the views beyond become even more spectacular and, while we can still make the most of the great outdoors, we love lighting candles in the ballroom when the sun goes down.  Let’s look at how to style the perfect September to November wedding with our autumn wedding ideas.

Autumn Ceremonies

At West Tower, ceremonies can take place in the garden pagoda until the end of September, so the majority of couples hosting an autumn wedding will say their vows in the Ballroom. You’ll experience wonderful views over the gardens and the magnificent trees, and we think it looks beautiful when the autumnal colours are brought inside. Shades of orange, red, green and yellow are a great choice for your ceremony flowers, as are deeper hues of pink and peach.  You might even use autumnal leaves in your decorations. If your wedding is towards the end of October or early November, a great autumn wedding idea is introducing pumpkins to the theme.

Your Wedding Menu

The talented chefs at West Tower will work with you to suggest exquisite autumnal wedding catering. For welcome drinks, consider an elegant Kir Royal. And, for the wedding breakfast, why not start with a warming, colourful roast tomato and red pepper soup, followed by pancetta-wrapped pork fillet? Toffee apples, jams or bags of popcorn make fun favours.

Lighting

Cleverly considered lighting is an effective way to create a romantic ambience and an autumn wedding gives you the opportunity to light both the inside and outside of your venue. If the weather is kind and you’d like to spend as much time outside as possible, a popular autumn wedding idea is to light pathways with lanterns and hanging votives from the trees. You might also place tea-lights on tables and it’s a good idea to provide shawls in case there is a chill in the air! Be sure to use candles on tables during your wedding breakfast – perhaps as a part of your floral decorations.

As the Sun Goes Down…

With a little luck, an autumn evening can lend itself perfectly to a hog roast served on the courtyard outside the Leather Lounge. Combined with the open fire in the lounge itself, this is a cosy and inviting atmosphere and a great spot for your evening feast as your party is in full swing in the Ballroom, wedding reception venue. End the evening by giving your guests sparklers to light outside, and serve hot chocolate in front of the fire.
