Laura and Carl’s West Tower romantic wedding story began when they were dancing to Avril Lavigne’s ‘I’m with you’ during a thunderstorm whilst on holiday in Italy. Carl knew it would be the perfect song for his proposal to Laura in Edinburgh.

After visiting many wedding fayres and other venues, Laura realised how special West Tower was. The friendly welcome and warm feeling as soon as they walked through the front door was difficult to find anywhere else. She hoped Carl would love the venue just as much as she did.

“Pretty much as soon as we walked in, Carl said ‘we’ve got to have this’.”

The style of the day

Using Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration, the couple chose blush, navy and rose gold as the colours for their romantic day. They worked with one of West Tower’s preferred suppliers, Red Events Creative. With the help of her mum, Laura saw the Ballroom styled exactly how they had imagined.

Laura’s dress was princess style with pearls, crystals, lace and a long train, perfect for their romantic themed day. After losing her dad just six months earlier, Laura ensured he was with her on the day with his charm in her bouquet. Her three bridesmaids wore matching long dresses in navy and dusky pink.

The groomsmen wore slim fit navy three piece suits with matching dusky pink slim ties. Carl chose a blush pink cravat. All the men wore pocket handkerchiefs and dark tan shoes. Carl’s pair, Kurt Geiger ‘Kenneth’, was a nod to Laura’s dad’s name.

In memory of her dad, the guests were given Cancer Research pins as their wedding favour.

The wedding

St Luke’s Church in Crosby was a special place for Laura. It was where her parents were married and where she was christened. Walking in with her uncle and mum to ‘Bridal Chorus’, she walked out with Carl to Prince’s ‘Diamonds and Pearls’.

The sun was shining when they arrived at West Tower, where cava and canapés were served on the lawn. Black pudding and poached egg started their meal, followed by lamb shank with dauphinoise potatoes. The chocolate brownie for dessert was the perfect end to their chosen menu.

A string trio provided the entertainment during the day. Their music complemented the romantic theme and elegance of the Ballroom perfectly and showcased their West Tower romantic wedding styling.

Their first dance had to be Avril Lavigne’s ‘I’m with you’. In the evening, entertainment for the happy couple and their guests was provided by Steve Mitchell Specialist Wedding DJ. He ensured the dance floor was full from start to finish.

“Every single thing went to plan and the team at West Tower made the day go so smoothly. It’s no wonder they’ve won best venue again. Everyone commented on how relaxed and well run the day was.”
