Meeting online, Nicola and Stephen realised early on in their relationship that they had found their perfect soulmate. Two years after they first met, they booked a spa hotel for a weekend of indulgence and pampering. Before dinner, Stephen got down on one knee and proposed, happy that he already had the blessing of Nicola’s dad. Knowing she did not want a long engagement, Nicola started to look for wedding venues straight away. After searching for exclusive wedding venues in Lancashire she immediately found West Tower and booked an appointment straight away. Excitedly, Nicola looked at the venue every day online, even driving for a sneaky peek with her mum beforehand. When the day came, they fell in love with West Tower, knowing it was the perfect venue for them.
“We loved that it was a complete blank canvas for us to put our own feel and style on the day and the gardens were the perfect place for everyone to celebrate and the children to play.” – Nicola
The style of the day
The wedding theme was romantic with a modern twist and a beautiful, dreamy feel. Décor was important and Nicola was certain from the outset that she wanted huge flower balls on every table. They chose a contemporary wedding cake, a macaron tower with a two tier ombré cake on top. Each guest also received a personalised blush and cream macaron.
Nicola always thought she would choose a princess style dress until she tried on an Essense of Australia gown and loved it straight away. With a mermaid organza skirt, beading and sparkles, she chose the dress in Moscato, a very subtle blush. A cathedral length veil, bespoke handmade hair comb and Charlotte Mills champagne and cream shoes completed her outfit. Her three bridesmaids wore Hayley Paige dresses in blush with a tulle skirt, fitting the romantic theme perfectly.
Nicola trusted Stephen to choose his own suit, knowing how impeccable his taste is. He picked a tailored Marc Darcy mid grey checked suit with hints of blue, which fitted him perfectly. In addition, the groomsmen wore bright blue suits with the same check waistcoat to match.
The wedding
Nicola’s dad walked her down the aisle with great pride whilst a string quartet played in the background. After the ceremony, which took place in the Ballroom, the quartet stayed to entertain everyone whilst photos were taken.
The weather was glorious, so the whole party were able to enjoy rosé cava, Peroni and canapés in the sunshine. In keeping with their romantic theme, the photographer found lots of secluded spots for especially tender images.
The Ballroom was magically transformed for the wedding breakfast. Everyone enjoyed baked goat’s cheese, Black Angus beef and a dessert assiette of crème brûlée, chocolate plant pot and banoffee profiterole. There were tears and laughter during the speeches which followed, with the two best men using lots of props.
Light up letters were something Nicola and Stephen wanted from the very start. Coupled with a sparkly white dancefloor and pink uplighting, the Ballroom was transformed for the evening. They started the night with their first dance, Cool by Alesso. The dancefloor was full all night, finishing at 1am with 90s old school classics.
“Our big day was everything we had dreamed of and more. The whole day went perfectly and the staff at West Tower bent over backwards to make sure we were happy.” – Nicola
